Summer Break —
Not a Break from Values
Yes, school is over (or just about over), and if we needed a reminder that summer has begun, this week’s heatwave in the Tri-state area made it loud and clear. While our kids are on break from tests, homework, and early morning bus stops, they’re not on break from being respectful, kind, responsible, and considerate.
And while we moms may be off duty from checking folders and making sure homework gets done, we’re still on duty when it comes to guiding character, behavior, and basic human decency. We still need to ensure that our kids are following the rules, being compliant and respectful, and so forth.
Let’s hold on to our roles—so that come September, the transition back to routine is smoother for everyone.
